Renault has chosen to fit Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres as original equipment for the Renault Clio RS Red Bull Racing RB7, launched in March 2012. The 200hp limited edition car was developed to celebrate Red Bull Racing’s Formula One Constructors’ title – Renault has supplied its RS27 V8 engine to the Milton Keynes-based team since the 2007 season.

The special edition rides on 18” alloy wheels fitted with ultra high-performance Potenza RE050A tyres in size 215/40R18 89W. Around 350 Clio RS Red Bull Racing RB7 hatchbacks will be produced.

“The Potenza RE050A is a great match for Renault’s Clio RS Red Bull Racing RB7; they share the same sporty temperament and dedication to high performance,” says Edwin van der Stad, director sales, Consumer Business Unit, Bridgestone Europe.

Bridgestone designed the ultra high-performance Potenza RE050A to handle the power of engines such as the 200hp Clio RS Red Bull Racing RB7’s. Its asymmetric design gives balanced dynamic performance with great responsiveness, particularly on cornering, precise steering and a high level of safety on wet surfaces, according to the tyre-maker, which supplied the sport until 2011. The Formula One derived Potenza RE050A allows the Clio RS Red Bull Racing RB7 to express its sporty spirit and versatility, Bridgestone says.

The tyre giant – the world number one – has been supplying tyres to Renault since 2004 when the B250 was chosen as original equipment for the Modus. Since then, the volume of Bridgestone tyres supplied to Renault has kept on growing. The Potenza RE050A was also factory fitment for the Clio RS Angel and Demon edition and Mégane RS Trophy in 2011.
